NOT HAPPY: Garston resident talks about lack of information on locations of defibrillators

Published on: 30th August 2021   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

A resident has expressed concerns over the lack of information on where the defibrillators in Garston are situated.

The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, was advised to get one for her mother-in-law and got wrongly told where the nearest one was.

Speaking to GarstonNews she said: “Thankfully we didn’t need it but wrongly told where the nearest one was.

“The gentleman that picked up the defibrillator was so nice and very helpful. I think we need a defibrillator at Courtlands Drive Shops.”

The nearest defibrillator in Garston is in the Tesco Store on North Approach – however it is only open 7am-11pm.

Garston county councillor Tim Williams said he is looking to get a 24/07 defibrillator established at the North Approach Shops, ideally situated just off the A405.

He said: “I have been liaising with two defibrillator charities and I do hope that we will have a 24/7 defibrillator established outside the North Approach shops this October, being funded from my Herts County Councillor’s Locality Budget.”

If residents need to find out where the nearest defibrillator is located, they can download the app GoodSAM.

This provides information on the location of over 40’000 different defibrillators, which is claimed to be the largest AED registry in the world.
