Hertsmere Borough Council has given “prior approval” for offices behind an old police station to be transformed into houses.
Grosvenor House on Police Station Lane will be transformed into two three-bedroom homes in the next five years.
Formerly a Philip Ross Solicitors office, the building will remain unchanged from the outside, but the interior will be divided and rearranged for the new houses.
On the ground floor, the houses will have three bedrooms, a family bathroom, and utility room with the master suite containing an en suite with bathtub and dressing area.
Plans also show that the upper floors will open onto a lounge and kitchen with an island.
There was one objection to the building work, but assessments carried out by Environmental Health and Licensing and Highways boards found no grounds for objection.
While carrying out work, the developer has to comply with certain regulations set by the planning authority– these include making efforts towards noise reduction and working within set hours.
