An author from Radlett is launching her new children’s book, Harmony Dances On.
Mandy Woolf will celebrate the release with a book launch at Halo Café in Uxbridge on Saturday, April 29.
The story helps children to understand the grieving process following the loss of a loved one in an “open” and “gentle” way.
The pages reflect emotions through colour and include questions at the bottom to encourage children to talk about their feelings.
There are also activities at the back created by a hypnotherapist, as well a soft toy that accompanies the book.
All proceeds from book sales and the event will go to the Halo Children’s Foundation, a charity that provides information and guidance on bereavement to young people.
The book will be available in their play centres, online and at schools that the charity visits. To find out more about the work they do, visit www.halochildrensfoundation.org.uk
Mandy said: “Having suffered the loss of both my mother and sister, I understand the roller coaster of emotions that are attached to loss and grieving and I am very committed to making a difference in the children and their family’s lives who have sadly, suffered this experience too.”
“I started to think about what it must be like for other children and their families to experience such loss. And instantly, I wanted to help. I wanted to make a difference. So, with the encouragement of my dear family, and wonderful friends my story was born.”
Harmony Dances On is out in early March.
