The Random Café in Garston has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help them replace the roof on their food waste shop and workshops.
The community organisation runs a café serving quality food diverted from landfill. Food is also offered in their shop on a ‘pay-as-you-feel’ basis.
Since 2017, The Random Café has saved 102 tonnes of edible food from landfill.
The shop is also thriving; it is open three days a week and serves around 240 customers a month.
Jane Johnson, who founded The Random Café, said: “The roof is quite old and leaking in various places. Our worry is that it will cause issues with the electrics and we won’t be able to save and distribute the food we have.
“Installing a new roof will help us keep the water out of the shop and workshops. It will offer greater insulation, keeping volunteers warm, helping us reduce damp, and protecting stock and equipment.
“Without a new roof, we can’t keep doing what we do. We thank everyone for their support.”
At the time of writing, the fundraiser has raised nearly £6,500. To donate, visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/random-cafe-roof
