Berkhamsted’s Centenary Theatre has been relaunched as a professional performance venue.
The theatre kicked off this new era with five performances of Spend, Spend, Spend, put on by award-winning Berkhamsted Theatre Company between Wednesday, October 23, and Saturday, October 26. The show is based on the life story of Viv Nicholson, who became famous after she and her husband won £152,000 on the pools in 1961.
The Centenary Theatre was established in 1988 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Berkhamsted Girls’ School. The space has previously been used for school and charity events, but in a more professional setting, it will now take the lead as the biggest venue in Berkhamsted.
The Centenary Theatre, which seats 479 audience members, is operated by Berkhamsted Enterprises, who are hoping to grow local talent and showcase professional, high-quality work.
Berkhamsted Enterprises will also be teaming up with Smash Arts Theatre Company to host their first professional pantomime, Cinderella, this December. Find out more at www.t.ly/7B8QT
