Abbots Langley Parish Council (ALPC) has teamed up with St Lawrence Church for this year’s Carol Concert, which will be followed by the Christmas lights switch-on.
The long-standing free event, which starts at 6pm on Thursday, November 28, marks the start of the festive season for many in the village.
Several shops and restaurants on the High Street are staying open later in order to celebrate the event, and YouTube footage recorded of the lights switch on as far back as 2015 shows a packed street for the highly anticipated event.
There will also be a collection for the Friends of St Lawrence on the day, which contributes towards maintenance, repair, restoration, preservation, beautification and reconstruction of the church.
The church’s choir is rehearsing every Wednesday ahead of the Carol Concert. They will be led by director of music Marianne Ryall, who had a choral scholarship studying music at the University of Cambridge.
