NEW CEO: St Albans mental health charity set to welcome new leader this November

Published on: 28th October 2020   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Mental health charity, The Counselling Foundation is set to welcome Emma Branch as the new CEO from November to lead their organisation into the future.

Emma who joined the Foundation’s Board of Trustees over a year ago, was inspired to have greater involvement in the charity after seeing the positive impact their work had on the community through subsidised counselling sessions and professional counsellor training.

Emma has a diverse working history which began with working within residential units for 16 – 25-year olds who were coming from the care system or family breakdowns, many of whom were suffering with mental health challenges.

With a genuine desire to continue to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health whilst raising awareness and funds for the charity.

Emma commented on her appointment. “I am hugely excited to be taking on the role of CEO and continuing to build on the success of the Foundation. I passionately believe in our objective of promoting better mental health through the provision of counselling services and education of people in the practice of therapeutic counselling.

“It is a privilege to use my skills leading an organisation that makes a difference.

“I look forward to working with colleagues across the Foundation to build upon our reputation for clinical excellence and partner with employers and community organisations alike to help increase the education and delivery of mental health support.”

The charity whose head office has been based in St Albans, Hertfordshire since 1974, has extended its services nationwide due to having an online offering because of COVID-19.

Since March, the charity has been awarded a range of grants to help fund remote counselling for anyone on low incomes or facing financial difficulties.

As a result, there are now more spaces available than ever to receive this much needed counselling service and the Foundation welcomes self-referrals.

Their services can be explored on the website counsellingfoundation.org
