Plans have been put forward to demolish a derelict former social club in Chorleywood and replace it with housing.
The former Swillet Social Club on Stag Lane is currently owned by Chorleywood Parish Council (CPC). They have recently submitted an application to demolish the existing building in favour of a two-storey detached dwelling with parking and a bike and bin store.
The Swillet Social Club was a community space for many years. It later became the JK Club, which provided breakfast, after-school and holiday childcare until its closure last year.
Over the decades, the site has also become increasingly dilapidated and fallen into a state of disrepair, hence CPC’s desire to demolish and redevelop the site.
A design and access statement posted as part of the application reads: “The proposed addition has been carefully and sensitively designed to provide a high-quality development that responds positively to the local context and scale.”
