‘OVER THE MOON’: Croxley British Legion relaunch beloved bingo night

Published on: 29th January 2024   |   By: Sophia Sheera   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Croxley branch of the Royal British Legion welcomed 59 guests to its first bingo night since before the COVID-19 pandemic on January 8.

The relaunch event on January 8 went so well that organisers have now decided to hold not one, but two bingo nights next month.

Chairman John Tasker said: “We were over the moon that so many people came. There was a real range of guests, including a group of ladies in their twenties and some of our oldest members in their eighties.

“People think that the British Legion is just an old men’s club, but we don’t want it to be that way at all.

“People travelled in from places like Garston and Northwood because so many British Legion groups are closing down, and they don’t have a local branch to go to anymore.”

Organisers’ spirits were lifted when some of the night’s younger attendees shared how much fun they’d had and promised to return next month.

The second of next month’s bingo nights will take place at 7pm on February 19 at 161-163 Watford Road, with tickets priced at £10. For more information, email crxbl@hotmail.co.uk or see the Croxley Royal British Legion page on Facebook.
