A Hemel man has been jailed for more than two years for trying to run a group of people over outside a pub in Leighton Buzzard.

Liam Loughran, 22, of Tedder Road, Hemel Hempstead, was sentenced on Tuesday (August 6) at Luton Crown Court for his involvement in the incident outside The Lancer Public House, on Lake Street.

The shocking footage shows the harrowing ordeal which clearly shows Liam attempting to ram a group of people at high speed outside the pub on a number of occasions.

His passenger, Jack Blackburn, 25, of Widmore Drive, Hemel Hempstead, received a suspended prison sentence.

Luckily no one was seriously injured in the incident which happened on August 4 last year at 1.45am.

Detective constable Tracey Joyce, who led the investigation, said: “This type of violence is unacceptable. In this instance we are extremely lucky that no one was seriously injured.

“It was clear Loughran was trying to cause some serious harm and damage by using a car as his weapon, and hopefully he can reflect on his actions whilst behind bars.”
