A group of Watford pupils recently performed in one of the most prestigious venues in the UK.
The Royal Albert Hall has hosted the likes of Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and David Bowie, and now students from Cherry Tree Primary School.
On Sunday, March 23, the pupils joined schools from across Hertfordshire to take part in the 30th anniversary of the Hertfordshire Schools’ Gala.
Rebekah McCafferty, music lead at Cherry Tree and leader of the KS2 choir, said: “Everyone was really excited! It was lovely because the kids knew the songs and told their parents who also knew some of the songs, so it created this buzz.”
When asked about how the children reacted to turning up at the venue, Rebekah said: “It was awe and wonder! The Royal Albert Hall is such a prestigious building; it has this regal feel.
“I think the children were nervous but as soon as they saw their parents, they settled right in and were waving!”
The students sang When I Grow Up from Matilda, Make Your Own Kind of Music by Cass Elliot, You’re the Voice by John Farnham, Believer by Imagine Dragons, and If I Had Words by Camille Saint-Saëns.
