A woodland path at Rickmansworth Aquadrome which has been closed for nearly two years is now one step closer to reopening.
More than 750 people signed a petition last summer, calling for the popular path to be reopened following its closure due to seasonal flooding.
Last month, Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) announced that it is expecting outline design work for a new woodland path at the Aquadrome by March 2026. Following this, there will be a programme of engagement with key stakeholders and the public.
Councillor Sarah Nelmes, TRDC’s Deputy Leader and lead member for general public services, said: “I am pleased to be able to show people that we are moving forward with our plans to improve and restore this much-loved path.
“The council has a responsibility to ensure this path is safe to use, and this is all the more significant now that we are seeing and will continue to see more flooding than we did before. The design work and surveying that we are doing will give us a very clear picture of what needs to be done.”
