MOVING FORWARD: Abbots Langley’s Evergreen FC prepare for new season

Published on: 1st June 2020   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

It has been a very interesting few months at Evergreen Football Club, writes club chairman Mark Ward.

“Planning for next season is well and truly underway with the registration of teams for the new season having been completed and we continue to see a growth in our numbers across all age groups, both youth and senior with our girls’ section in particular seeing a continued growth in numbers. We continue to ensure our managers and coaches renew their accreditations and the committee still meet, albeit virtually with tele-conferences replacing the usual monthly meetings. No decision has of yet been taken on the six-a-side tournament scheduled for the end of June and of course the club will follow government advice.

“Without doubt the club has of course been adversely impacted by COVID-19 and we have been working with our suppliers and the Local Authority who are managing the Government grants to ensure that when we do re-open the club continues to thrive and is in a strong financial position.

“Whilst the club will get through this difficult time and we will see football back at South Way next season the club continues to look at ways at investing in its infrastructure. Evergreen have been invited to submit further grant applications to the Football Foundation, sponsored by the Herts FA which has all happened but of course all conversations are currently on hold, but some exciting developments in the pipeline.

“Whilst we are operating in uncertain times one thing that is certain is Evergreen Football Club will be ready to welcome players, Managers, supporters and visitors to South Way as soon as we are able to and look forward to seeing you back.”
