Berkhamsted-based West Herts Wizards (WHW) pickleball club won a haul of 18 medals at the Sketchers English Open in Telford in August.
Just two years after they were set up, WHW took a squad of 46 players to the tournament, winning four gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.
Tim Gill won gold in the singles, Lyn Epps was victorious in skinny singles, and Wendy Randall and Phil Cohen claimed success in the mixed doubles.
Lyn took her second gold of the event with Keith Pollard in the mixed doubles, and Roy Eastwood picked up the Men’s Challenge Award.
Lyn also walked away with a ladies’ doubles silver medal, winning three in total for WHW.
Lyn said: “We’re probably one of the biggest clubs in the country. People want to come from a long way away to play.”
Pickleball, a sport where players use a paddle to hit a ball over a 34-inch net, has become a big sport in the area thanks to the Berkhamsted Leisure Centre-based team.
Lyn added: “We’re trying to promote pickleball across the country.”
