The annual Gin and Jazz festival once again struck a chord with eventgoers and proved itself to be a heavyweight of the St Albans calendar.
Hundreds of people flooded the historic George Street on Friday, October 4, for a night of gin, food, jazz, socialising and more gin under twinkling lights and the night sky!
The night was underscored by the sounds of jazz with live music from Take 3 Jazz and New River Dixielanders.
Organised by St Albans City BID and George Street Retail Association, the event offers an opportunity for the establishments of George Street to open their doors for late night shopping and to host pop-up bars, to promote the independent business eco-system.
St Albans News went to the event to hear from contributors and attendees.
Tony Earley, the owner of the women’s retailer Earley’s, said: “It’s been fantastically busy, everyone is out and everyone loves it.”
Thea Sainsbury, St Albans resident, said: “This is my second gin and jazz festival. It is quintessential St Albans.”
Tom Dean, a life-long resident, said: “Tonight’s been amazing. You come out with all your friends, and you go down George Street and everyone is in lovely spirits. Its just so nice to see the community come together.”
Resident Lisa Smith said: “I have been a few times, and the atmosphere is electric, I am not even a gin drinker, but you still have to come here.”
