A man from Rickmansworth who paid nearly £500 to a window company in the town and has heard nothing from for weeks since says he wants to warn other people.
The man, who has asked to remain anonymous, contacted Just Windows and Doors in August to arrange for them to replace a kitchen and bathroom window at his home in August.
The company has a showroom in Ickenham and at 149 Uxbridge Road, Rickmansworth. He paid a deposit to secure the work and was told the windows would be ready in six to eight weeks.
After this period of time had elapsed, he was contacted again by the company who told him the windows would be coming from an alternative supplier.
He said: “I said yes and signed a variation to my contract to confirm this. I asked for confirmation this would be passed on but have heard nothing since. Their answerphone is full. I went round there and there was nobody in the office. I posted a letter and went back to check a few days later. The letter has gone so someone is going in on a regular basis. I’ve been struggling to get in contact with them.”
The man has since got in touch with Fensa, a government authorised organisation which works with double glazing contractors in England and Wales who have been assessed for their ability to install replacement windows and doors in accordance.
He said: “They told me their registration had been terminated on November 27. It’s very strange that they have just disappeared and I thought I should let others know.”
He also got in touch with the Glass and Glazing Federation who run a deposit indemnity scheme.
MyRickyNews has tried to contact Just Windows and Doors numerous times but their mailbox was full. A Trading Standards spokesman confirmed they were investigating.
