A St Albans resident protested at the entrance of a private jet terminal at Luton Airport on November 10.
Members of Extinction Rebellion blocked access to the vehicle entrance to the Harrods Aviation terminal as part of a cross-continent, non-violent international campaign called Make Them Pay.
The campaign is targeting the jet-setting lifestyles of the ultra-rich, which they believe are “exacerbating climate breakdown”.
Before the Luton Airport protest, activist Nigel Harvey, of St Albans, said: “The UN Secretary-General António Guterres described humanity as being on a ‘highway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator’ – and yet the aviation industry takes no notice. They carry on pushing for growth, regardless of the consequences for us all. That is worse than reckless.”
