MAJOR DELAYS: Cooking oil spill on M25 closes motorway

Published on: 19th April 2022   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

60-minute delays have been reported with the M25 having been closed for over three hours following a lorry spill.

The part of the motorway between junction 23 by Borehamwood and junction 25 by Enfield has been shut ever since the incident, where a lorry shed it’s load, splattering vegetable oil across the road near junction 25.

National Highways say police and traffic officers have been attending the scene, with contractors currently working there to remove the spillage. Traffic is now beginning to tail back towards junction 21 for the M1.

Tweeting at 2:30pm, National Highways said: “The #M25 clockwise remains closed between J23  and J25following a collision and a large spillage of cooking oil across all of the lanes. Contractors are working to remove the oil from the carriageway. Delays of up to 60 minutes on the approach.”

There will be further updates as this story continues.
