A terrified dog had a lucky escape recently after surviving colliding with a car on a busy Gerrards Cross road.
Scared by the fireworks this recent Bonfire Night, the animal had managed to escape from his house and ran out into the busy A40 road that runs through the village.
The poor pooch was unfortunately hit by an oncoming vehicle, but fortunately Thames Valley Police officers came across the scene whilst on patrol.
With the help of various members of the public, the police were able to retrieve the dog from underneath the car, and safely put her in the back of their patrol car.
After this, they took the pet to a local vet, where she received the treatment that it needed, before finally being returned to her owners. Police confirmed on social media that the dog is now safe and well at home.
The RSPCA says that last year they received 11, 785 responses from pet owners describing how the animals in their home had been negatively affected by fireworks.
