The mayor is campaigning for more police presence to ensure the security of Watford town centre.
Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor has started a petition urging Police and Crime Commissioner David Lloyd to provide extra police to the town centre.
Peter Taylor, Liberal Democrat elected Mayor for Watford, said: “It is important that we ensure that Watford Town Centre remains a safe place for all of us to enjoy. In Watford we work closely with the police to keep crime low and local businesses to improve safety. But I also believe that we need more police in the high street to deal with any anti-social behaviour.
“That is why I am campaigning for the Police and Crime Commissioner to strengthen the town centre team with more police officers. I hope you will support my campaign and sign my petition to fight for more police”
Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner, David Lloyd has been contacted for comment.
