A family from Kings Langley climbed the highest mountain in Wales to raise money in aid of the hospital which supported their son.
When their second son, Arlo, was born, Dan and Laura received heart-breaking news that he had a large hole in his heart.
The doctors informed the family that it was unlikely the hole would close on its own due to its large size and that when Arlo was four, he would require heart surgery to close it.
After several visits to Royal Brompton Hospital over a number of years, the family received the news that the hole was no longer there.
Laura said: “I’ve never felt so rich in all my life. After a two-and-a-half-year journey of hospitals, anxiety, medical appointments and worry, I felt like the world was lifted from my shoulders.”
To thank the hospital for all they have done for Arlo, Laura and Dan climbed Snowdon at the end of July alongside their son Bertie, Arlo, best friend Isla, and Uncle Ed.
They are fundraising for Healing Hearts, a campaign to raise £100,000 for medical equipment and vital resources at Royal Brompton Hospital.
Laura said: “The doctors and surgeons at Brompton perform life-saving and life-changing surgery every single day. Children with heart conditions and their families need support and access to the best possible equipment, machines and medical care.”
