LONG SERVICE: Abbots Langley post office assistant stands down

Published on: 28th September 2019   |   By: Tim Green   |   Category: Uncategorized

The post office assistant at Abbots Langley Post Office retired earlier today after 14 years in the role.

Sandra Coen started working at the High Street shop in 2005 as the shop assistant and was later asked to take over the post office as well.

Sandra said she thoroughly enjoyed her time serving the community.

She’ll be marking the occasion with her colleagues at Hunters Bar and Restaurant this evening for dinner.

She said: “I loved mixing with people and watching the little ones grow up. I’ll also really miss my workmates, customers and everyone at the Post Office. I’m Abbots born and bred so I’ll still be calling in for various things.”

Sandra said she is very much looking forward to her retirement.

She said: “I’ll probably be doing a lot of grandma duties. I have two grandchildren and another on the way. I’ll be able to spend time with my husband if he gives up working. I was touched by how many customers said they heard I was retiring and wished me well.”

Lynn Luck is one of the organisers of Autumn Fest and has a strong interest in the village.

She paid tribute to Sandra.

Lynn said: “She was always happy, smiling and helpful and she’ll be missed.”
