A Chalfonts bowls club commemorated their 50th anniversary two years late due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A celebratory game had originally been scheduled for 2021, but due to the pandemic, it had to be put on hold.
Finally, Chalfont St Giles Bowling Club (CSGBC) faced the Chelsea Pensioners on Wednesday, July 26. The Chelsea Pensioners arrived at the clubhouse behind a bagpiper which attracted attention from those walking and playing in the nearby park.
In addition to CSGBC members, Sarah Green, MP for Amersham and Chesham, was in attendance, alongside members of the local parish council, including councillors Gordon Patrick BEM, Des Bray, Grant Kirkby and Timothy Patrick-Smith.
A spokesperson for CSGBC said: “The atmosphere was phenomenal – nothing but laughter and chatting – with a touch of bowling!
“It was an amazing day and an absolute honour to host the Chelsea Pensioners.
“Anyone who fancies giving bowls a try is welcome to come along on a Friday night, when we hold a ‘roll up’ with food after!”
