A volunteer litter picker, who has spent half her lifetime keeping public spaces tidy, is helping to clean up Rickmansworth and Croxley.
Eight-year-old Bonnie started litter picking when she was only four years old, after becoming worried that animals might choke on discarded bottles and bits of plastic. Four years later, Bonnie is still continuing to pick up litter after her grandma gifted her a new litter picking grab tool for Christmas.
Bonnie’s mother Jo said: “She just likes tidying up. We don’t litter pick every weekend, but we do it fairly often, especially when we’re walking the dogs.
“If we drive past a place where there’s rubbish lying around, she’ll say, ‘Next time, we should come here’.”
Bonnie’s most recent charitable venture took place at Chorleywood House, between Chorleywood and Rickmansworth, at the beginning of January.
Jo added: “We try to keep it exciting. Sometimes we challenge ourselves by trying to find something strange, like rubber gloves or an old DVD.
“Bonnie will be so excited to see an article about her litter picking in the news. We’ll put it in her memory box!”
