Rickmansworth Cricket Club ended the season this September on a high, with the 1st XI promoted to Division 2 and the 3rds XI crowned champions of league 10S.
Ricky’s 1st team were promoted back to Division 2 on August 19, following a win against Bushey led by Azeem Hussain. The 1st XI last played in Division 2 back in 2008, in which some of the side’s youngest stars were yet to even be born.
Meanwhile, the 3rds knew that they only needed 8 points to win the league and earn their promotion even before their match against West Herts began on September 3. Following what Head Coach Paul Blackwell called “a straightforward win”, they went on to secure their final victory of the season against the Harrovians on September 11.
2023 marks the first time the 3rd team has won its division. Last promoted 15 years ago, the triumphant team is now wondering which division they will find themselves in once they’re assigned a region in which to participate.
The 2nds finished the season a comfortable 60 points clear of relegation, putting them in a great position to turn their attention towards the 2023/24 sporting year.
