Langford wins silver at Commonwealth Games

Published on: 12th April 2018   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

An emotional Donald Langford spoke proudly of the moment he found out his son Kyle had clinched silver in the men’s 800m at the Commonwealth Games.

The Garston athlete missed out on gold by the finest of margins at the Gold Coast event on April 12.

Donald said: “I am very proud, excited and over the moon. We knew he had the talent and it was only a matter of time before he achieved something like this.

“When I first went to watch him train, I knew he had something special and that once he started training, he would come through the ranks.

“Kyle actually lost his friend about a year ago, pretty much to the day, and he wanted to win gold for his friend, so knowing Kyle, he will be disappointed he didn’t get gold. He just wants to be the best.

“It was a very slow first lap and if he had been faster at that point, I think he would have won.”
