KNOCKOUT PRIZE: Anthony Joshua gets Conor McGregor to send a treat to Garston pub

Former Garston resident Anthony Joshua recently managed to get a crateload of free drink donated to The Badger Pub in the Meriden Estate.

Soon after knocking out Robert Hellenius at the O2 Arena on August 12, the two-time world heavyweight boxing champion called on pro mixed martial artist and Forged drinks company founder Conor McGregor to send a number of boxes of alcohol to the pub.

During the post-fight conference, Joshua quipped: “Where is Conor in here? I want a crateload of free Forged shipped to The Badger Pub in Meriden.

“All the locals will be very, very happy.”

A couple of days later, a clip of Joshua’s request was uploaded to the Forged Irish Stout Instagram page. The caption revealed that a crate of Forged was “en route to the Badger Pub!”.

All visitors to the pub on the following Saturday were given the chance to sample the stout. One customer told Garston News that it was not only “lovely” but “better than Guinness”.

Conor McGregor now follows The Badger’s Instagram page.
