KNOCKED OUT: Wealdstone suffer 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Maidenhead

Published on: 22nd October 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Wealdstone F.C

Wealdstone have been knocked out of the FA Cup this evening (October 22) following a 2-0 defeat to Maidenhead at The Vale in their fourth qualifying round match.

Despite having the home advantage for the replay, The Stones went 1-0 down in the 14th minute when Josh Kelly makes a well-timed run and strikes the ball into the back of the net.

The scoreline could have been two or three more for the visitors before half time, but Stones keeper Aston Oxborough put in some important saves and Jacob Mendy saw red from the referee for bringing down a Maidenhead player on the edge of the box.

During the second half Josh Kelly puts the visitors 2-0 up with a powerful strike from distance that goes past Oxborough.

In front of more than 800 fans at Th Vale, Wealdstone players and manager Dean Brennan will be disappointed with their performance that sees them miss out on an FA Cup First Round home fixture against Rotherham United.

Wealdstone will be back in action on Saturday, October 26 in the National League South at home to Tonbridge Angels.
