Kings Langley parish councillors praise their remarkable chairman

Published on: 4th September 2014   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category:

A councillor and clerk of the Kings Langley Parish Council were gushing in their praise of their chairman after he was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour. Ron Smith told councillors at the meeting in August that he was undergoing treatment and asked for their support as he battles the disease. He said: “My objective is to keep going but I need your support in doing so. I want to remain chairman as long as I can. No-one knows what’s round the corner but I’ll do my best to continue for as long as I can.” Councillor Alan Anderson paid tribute to Ron’s standing in the community and hard work and said: “Since joining the Parish Council in 2011, Ron has done more than his fair share of the council’s work, putting his talents and time to the village’s benefit. “Ron has been a vocal advocate in seeking additional services for the youths of the village, and has been crucial in providing his own sound system equipment for public events. “When the Chair of the Council became vacant in 2013, Ron stepped into the breach, and has carried out the role exemplary.  His determination to participate in the WWI commemorative event spoke volumes about his dedication to public service, and we all rooting for him and hoping he can pull through.” For more, see My Kings News, out this weekend
