A Pinner resident has taken on an epic swimming challenge to raise money for charity.
Christina Benjamin has completed the Aspire Channel Swim challenge at the Aspire Leisure Centre in Stanmore, swimming 22 miles over numerous swims from October 9 to December 4. All money raised will be donated to Aspire, which supports people with spinal cord injuries.
Christina first started having issues with her spine in January 2019 and has since undergone three spinal surgeries. Under the advice of her spinal surgeon, she started swimming again and was immediately attracted to the Channel Swim challenge.
She said: “I am a very driven individual and always like to have a goal to work towards.
“It means a huge amount to me to raise funds to support people with spinal cord injuries. I am fortunate to have ‘caught’ my spinal issue and have had it fixed before it turned into a spinal cord injury. Others have not been so fortunate. It is lovely to be able to support those that have had their worlds turned upside down by a spinal injury.”
You can still support Christina by donating here.
