A project recorded at the Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead tells the stories of local heroines.
HEMELnews spoke to Thomas Kell, the chair of trustees and directors at Pursued by a Bear Productions (PBAB), and Rosamunde Hutt, artistic director of the company, on their latest project.
As part of the project, funded by Dacorum Borough Council, the team led workshops with elders in Dacorum to share stories of their heroines and female trailblazers, including residents from Hemel.
Actors from PBAB recorded the testimonies and transformed the stories into a short film called Nothing on Earth: Our Women of Courage, commissioned and funded by University of Hertfordshire Arts + Culture.
Thomas said: “We workshopped to gather stories, and allocated time in the Old Town Hall in Hemel to record the actors telling these stories.”
Rosamunde added: “The film is like a souvenir, giving the stories a longer lifespan. It makes you realise the challenges that these women faced.”
