INCOMING WORKSHOP: Plans approved to demolish convicted fraudster’s house in Kings Langley

Published on: 28th April 2025   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

The former home of a convicted rapist and conman from Kings Langley is set to be demolished.

Edward Putman was jailed for nine years in 2019 after being found guilty of working with a Camelot insider to claim a £2.5million jackpot with a fake lottery ticket.

He had previously served a seven-year sentence for rape.

Following his conviction, Putman’s derelict home in South Bend, Station Road, was taken from him and sold in a Proceeds of Crime auction.

The new owners, ar18, then submitted plans to demolish the property. Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) approved these plans on Thursday, April 3.

The decision notice states that certain conditions should still be met, such as additional information around parking and construction plans, and that work must begin before April 2028.

Some of these conditions were already submitted to TRDC on Wednesday, April 16, and are currently pending consideration.

Furniture company ar18 is looking to relocate from its current Uxbridge base and build a 2,000-metre workshop on the site in Kings Langley.

ar18 director Antony Cockerell said: “The lease on our current premises in Uxbridge expires in 2026.

“We’ve been looking for a new premises for three years now without success. When South Bend came up for auction, we did a planning appraisal and found that it could be suitable for redevelopment.”
