IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Road in Rickmansworth closed for filming of hit BBC show

Film crews descended on Rickmansworth earlier this month, reportedly to film scenes for a hit BBC show.

Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) announced that a road would be closed and a number of parking spaces temporarily out of use on Monday, September 1.

Filming took place in Talbot Road High Street car park, opposite the Coach & Horses pub, and in Bury Lane from Church Street to Ebury Road.

It was later reportedly confirmed that the filming was for the BBC series Ludwig, starring David Mitchell. The debut series, which aired in 2024, quickly became a hit and a second series was confirmed last October.

Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of TRDC, said: “This filming is for a UK television series, and while it may be a slight inconvenience to motorists at the time of filming, it is great to be able to support such projects in our district which will inevitably bring new people into the area and support the local economy.”

Scenes for the first series were filmed at Moor Park Mansion, which stood in for the Ludwig Bryce Manor in episode two.

It has not yet been confirmed when the second series will air.
