A group of nurses looking to reunite with their classmates, 50 years after their training, have found more of their cohort after an appeal was published in Watford News.
Susan Barrell née Danzig was one of tens of nurses to train at West Herts School, located at Watford Peace Memorial Hospital, back in 1975.
Half a century on, Susan issued an appeal in the hopes of reaching her classmates for a 50-year reunion.
When Watford News spoke to Susan last year, she revealed that three nurses had been in contact with her.
Providing an update earlier this month, Susan told Watford News: “From Australia and Ireland to Wales and around England, we have pretty much found our lost tribe of West Herts School of Nursing 1975. This group of women born in the 1950s, to where we are now, is quite a snapshot of life.”
The remarkable women came together once again at their reunion on Tuesday, September 2.
Susan said: “What a wonderful opportunity we have had today to visit again the place we all started our nursing training back on September 1, 1975. From the 20 nurses from 1975, 12 of us were able to meet today and share some special memories from our times working at the Peace Memorial Hospital, now the home of Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care.
“We are all very grateful to Rennie Grove Peace for hosting us today and allowing us to share this special day in the building where it all started.”
