Hundreds of people attended a fundraising event last month, organised by an inspirational woman from Croxley.
Maria Campanini is using the heartbreak of losing her sister, Gina, to make a difference and raise money for The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST).
Gina passed away from sepsis at age 30 after contracting a chest infection.
To date, Maria and her family have raised an incredible £50,000 for UKST in Gina’s name.
Their efforts were given a huge boost after £6,677 was raised at the Summer Squeeze event at St Clement Danes School on Sunday, August 17.
The fete featured live music, games, face painting, tombola, and a raffle where one lucky winner won tickets to Disneyland Paris.
Maria is also making progress with her challenge of running one half marathon every month in 2025, finishing with a marathon in December on Gina’s birthday.
Speaking to Croxleynews, Maria said: “The Summer Squeeze was an amazing day which bought together family, friends, and people who knew Gina to celebrate her life and spread an important message about sepsis.
“It was all powered by Team Gini – my loved ones who made it such a resounding success.
“I am so grateful to all of the members of our local community who attended to show their support and gave so generously to the UKST’s lifesaving mission. And Gini sent the sunshine, as I knew she would.
“I’ll now be powering on with the final few months of my running challenge.”
