On February 12 fifteen sixth form students from Kings Langley Secondary School took part in a first aid course run by First Response Training.
An instructor taught the students different first aid methods and techniques, and how to use these in potentially life threatening situations.
The sixth formers participated in practical work with dummies that the instructor had brought in.
A student said: “This was very helpful for everyone as we got to undertake first aid physically, so that in the case of a real life situation, we would be prepared.”
“It was a fun and helpful experience as most of us had no knowledge of how to perform first aid, but now we are all experts.
“It was a great opportunity to learn a critical life skill that one day may be useful. As an added benefit, we all now have a Level 3 First Aid qualification which is valid for the next three years.
“I would recommend other students taking up the opportunity to complete this course if it is available to them in the future.”
Some other topics covered were treating wounds, dealing with someone who is choking, and bandaging.
