When a Bushey resident’s step-father died, she inherited his home. Yet what was meant to be a place of safety has quickly turned into a nightmare.
After sadly losing her husband and step-father in the same year, Karen was hoping to find peace in a new home but has ended up owing over £100,000.
When solicitors applied to Land Registry to transfer the property to her name, Land Registry informed them that there were issues relating to the management company responsible for the private road where the property is located. Meadowbrook Residents Management Company Ltd is responsible for procuring services including lights and maintenance of the road.
Karen was stunned to learn that Meadowbrook had not submitted accounts to Companies House since December 2022, thus meaning the properties were not sellable.
Despite Karen and her solicitors reaching out to the company director on numerous occasions, they have failed to respond and supply the information required for Karen to progress transferring the property to her name and resolving her step-father’s equity release.
Speaking to BUSHEYnews, Karen said: “I am scared I am going to lose my home. I am in a terrible state, grieving my husband and step-father and having all this to deal with as well.”
The future of Karen’s home remains uncertain as investigations into Meadowbrook Residents Management Company continue.
