‘HUGE IMPACT’: Team from Pinner and Ruislip walk marathon to ‘shine a light on overlooked conditions’

Wendy, Janice and others who met at the Pinner and Ruislip Support Groups walked 26.2 miles throughout July to raise vital funds and awareness for PMRGCAuk.

The national charity supports people living with the life-changing inflammatory conditions polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and giant cell arteritis (GCA).

Having benefitted from the charity’s support, Wendy and Janice joined fellow members in a series of walks around Pinner, Ruislip and Uxbridge.

While some people might find walking a marathon in a month an easy task, for people with PMR or GCA, sometimes even getting out of bed can be a challenge.

Speaking to Pinner News, Wendy said: “We’re walking this marathon to shine a light on these often-overlooked conditions that can have a huge impact on people’s daily lives. PMRGCAuk does incredible work to provide support, raise awareness, and fund research, and we’re proud to be part of that effort.”

The Pinner and Ruislip Support Groups are aiming to raise £1,000, with all proceeds going directly to PMRGCAuk’s services. You can donate to the charity at www.pmrgca.org.uk/get-involved/donate
