A worldwide campaign entitled ‘The Power of One’ by the Jain group Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (SRMD) was recently launched to give food and clothes to the needy. The London Jain Centre, based in Harrow borough, collected 3,000 items of clothing and over 200 kilograms of food in just two months. Among the other donations included bedding, shoes, toiletries and other daily items. The spirit for Power of One was praised by Harrow Council, who hosted a two day collection at the Harrow Civic Centre on October 19 and 20 run by SRMD where both staff and visitors to the centre made generous contributions. The Mayor of Harrow, councillor Rekha Shah, commended the wonderful work being done to help those in need and was impressed by the amounts collected. Ashwin Mehta, SRMD UK trustee, said: “It is fantastic to see such generosity and kindness from the public.” Hear more about this story and what else is happening in your local community in the November edition of MyPinnerNews, which will be distributed on November 18.
