HUGELY DISAPPOINTED: Vandals spray paint Garston underpass with foul language

Published on: 31st October 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Cow Lane underpass near the Meriden Estate in Garston has once again been vandalised, with ‘F**kar’ and ‘Pedo’ spray painted on the wall.

The Garston subway was only renovated in 2022 and was dedicated to former resident Daniel Rush, who died in 2003.

This unfortunately is not the first time that the underpass has been defaced – in May 2022, racist symbols were marked on the walls.

Meriden Tudor Ward councillor Steve Cavinder told Garston News: “I’m hugely disappointed that some people find this type of behaviour acceptable, particularly in an area where many young students make their way to school. If anyone knows who the perpetrators are, then I would urge them to report this to the police.

“When the underpass was repainted a couple of years ago, it was protected with an anti-graffiti product which has meant that this obscene graffiti has been removed quickly.”

A spokesperson from Veolia told Garston News said: “On October 21, Veolia was made aware of offensive graffiti on the artwork in the Cow Lane underpass by the Meriden Estate. Our street removed the graffiti within 24 hours.”
