HOT FOOD: Kings Langley supper club ready to welcome those in need this winter

Published on: 26th November 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

A supper club is being launched in Kings Langley in response to the cost-of-living crisis to help residents through the coldest months of the year.

All Saints Church Hall on Church Lane will play host to the All Saints Supper Club, which will take place every Wednesday from 4pm-6pm from December 7 through to the end of February.

A hot meal, which will be served on a free or pay-as-you-can basis, will be offered every week thanks to a host of volunteers from the village. Those attending can enjoy their food in a warm, friendly environment while socialising with others.

The club is open to anyone from the village and surrounding areas who is feeling the effects of the current cost-of-living crisis and will benefit from a free hot meal.

Organiser Andy Wragg said: “This idea stemmed from a conversation I was having with Father James McDonald about ways the church could help struggling parishioners as we go into the winter months. All Saints’ motto is ‘church in the community, community in the church’, and I think the supper club really speaks to that notion. You don’t have to be a churchgoer to come along or to help out – we are simply utilising an available warm space and its kitchen!”

Advance booking is encouraged for logistical reasons, but is not essential.

Father James McDonald added: “The supper club will rely heavily on volunteers, so I’d urge anyone to get in touch who thinks they might have some time to spare to either cook up some simple hot meals or to come along on the day to serve or help with the setting up and clearing up.”
