The MP for Chesham and Amersham shared the words of a local post worker during a debate on the Post Office scandal in the House of Commons last month.
The scandal saw hundreds of postmasters across the country falsely accused and convicted of stealing money that had actually been lost due to faults with the company’s Horizon computer system.
On Thursday, February 8, Sarah Green MP raised the issue of staff members being made to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDA). She read out the words of a constituent who had been a post worker for three decades and who had been made to sign an NDA when he retired.
The constituent said: “As a member of the Post Office project team that delivered Horizon, I, like many of my ex-project colleagues, was aware of the truth behind many of the points that the Post Office have been at great pains to hide or deny.
“I am still staggered that someone at a senior level didn’t question the huge rise in prosecutions after the system was implemented. The Post Office has used these NDAs to ensure that current and ex-employees are effectively silenced.”
