DREAM DAY: Young football fan from Watford becomes a mascot for the day

Published on: 28th February 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Rhia Raj, 8, from Watford had the dream day as she was mascot during the Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between West Ham Ladies and Liverpool Ladies.

Rhia’s father, Raj Radhakrishnan, works for Standard Chartered, a major sponsor of Liverpool FC.

He applied for her daughter to walk out with Liverpool Ladies captain, Sophie Bradley-Auckland.

Speaking to WatfordNews, Mr Radhakrishnan said: “My daughter is a keen football fan, especially since I started working for Standard Chartered in 2017, and in particular the Liverpool Ladies team.

“She’s been obsessed with the Liverpool captain, Sophie, and she got to have a really nice chat with her before the game.”

The result wasn’t perhaps what Rhia would have wanted on her special day, with West Ham winning 4-2, but it still didn’t disappoint her day too much.

Raj continued: “She was super happy and super proud, as was I. Rhia was given her child mascot clothing and we got to have a look around the clubhouse. It was a great day.”
