HILLINGDON HOSPITAL: Funding for revamp of health site near Northwood yet to be fully confirmed

Published on: 27th June 2024   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Despite plans being much touted, the NHS trust in charge of Hillingdon Hospital has stated that the amount of funds for the site’s revamp has yet to be officially confirmed.

The statement came from Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in respond to a Freedom of Information request sent in by a member of the public in May. The request asked if the total funding for the rebuild had been agreed and if the money had been handed over to the trust.

The trust replied: “Confirmation of the final sum and release of funding will not happen until completion of the business case process over the next few years.”

In 2019, the government announced a £20billion budget for the New Hospitals Programme, part of which commits to the rebuilding of Hillingdon Hospital in time for a 2030 reopening.

The current Hillingdon Hospital was rated as ‘Inadequate’ in a Care Quality Commission inspection in 2018. Several of the hospital’s older wards are currently closed to staff and patients as they have been deemed unsafe.
