A wildlife hospital in Maple Cross is currently undergoing a major refurbishment, before it opens to the public in October.
Pumpkins Wildlife Hospital, based on Stockers Farm, is set to become the hub for the rescue of injured and/or sick animals for a 26-mile radius once construction work has been completed.
This new facelift has been made possible thanks to hard work from volunteers and generous donations from local residents and businesses.
Sarah Arnold, fundraising trustee, explained: “We put out a call to local businesses for material contributions, and their response was nothing short of overwhelming, their generosity and swiftness in rallying behind us is nothing short of remarkable.”
Some of the companies include Tesco, Asda, Align JV, Ecosulis, Sir Robert McAlpine, Powerday, Selco, Travis Perkins, Howdens, Brewers Decorators and Zoetis.
Elsewhere, residents have donated items such as air vents, smoke alarms and light switches to the project, meaning phase two of construction is now fully underway.
Trustee Pippa Alldritt said: “Our focus is simple: to rebuild the hospital, be the epitome of functionality and compassion – for both the animals it will shelter and the volunteers who champion its cause.”
