SUPER SUPPORT: Inspirational Hemel Hempstead resident helps support cancer charity

Published on: 21st August 2023   |   By: Dean Shaw   |   Category: Uncategorized

A woman from Hemel Hempstead who is taking part in a charity fundraising event is aiming to raise awareness of bowel cancer.

Lauren McNabb, 25, will be taking part in this year’s Bowel Cancer UK (BCUK) Walk Together event on September 16, which brings people together to show support for everyone affected by bowel cancer.

Lauren sadly lost her mum, Mandy, to bowel cancer when Mandy was just 57 years old.

Since then, Lauren has strived to raise awareness and is encouraging anyone with symptoms to get checked as it “could save your life”.

She said: “My mum will always be an inspiration to me.

“It is so important to raise awareness as bowel cancer is treatable if you catch it early. I want to stress to everyone that if you notice any symptoms, please get it checked because it could save your life.”

Luke Squires, director of fundraising at BCUK, said: “We’re determined to save lives but we’re entirely reliant on the generous support of fundraisers like Lauren.”
