HELP WANTED: Council seeking help to catch fly tippers in Watford

Published on: 20th September 2019   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

Watford Borough Council is seeking further witnesses to a significant fly tip of bonded asbestos roofing sheets in Orchard Close on Friday, September 13 between 8:40am and 9.30am.

Witness testimony and CCTV footage shows that a white ford tipper truck was in the area at the time of the fly tip and may be responsible.

Ben Wilkin, Environmental Crime Officer said “This fly tip is significant and unusual for Watford. This occurred whilst the residents were away from their home.

It is in such a residential area we are hoping someone remembers something.

If anyone knows anything please call us on 01923 278503 or email envhealth@watford.gov.uk.

If you see a fly tip taking place call 999.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “Fly tipping is illegal and we will take immediate action against people who think they can get away with it. Our residents are really concerned when they see dumped rubbish polluting our communities.

“It harms our environment, attracts vermin and can be a health hazard. It costs the council many thousands of pounds a year to clear up, meaning residents are paying to dispose of other people’s unwanted rubbish.”
