LEARNING LITERACY: Northwood author’s new teaching book endorsed by borough mayor

Published on: 9th October 2022   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Northwood woman has released a new book of learning for children after being inspired by the struggles of parents teaching their children in lockdown.

Local educational book author Helen J Bailey created the Bumper Book of Double Learning for those aged between 8 and 13 using the ‘double learning technique’, which aims to teach readers two bits of knowledge at the same time and help make things more fun.

The book has already been endorsed by Hillingdon borough’s mayor, councillor Becky Haggar, who met with Helen to find out more about the book.

Helen spoke to NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews about her inspiration behind the publication of the book: “I decided to write this book after witnessing the many frustrations that parents encounter when trying to help educate their children.

“Whether it’s for SATs, 11 Plus or home-schooling, parents spend too much money on books that have no teaching and learning, they’re just basic revision.

“I wanted to create something that children could learn from at home. Over the last seven years, I’ve worked with parents and children to ensure that everything they need is in one book.

“The lessons, worksheets and activities have all been tried and tested on parents, teachers and children, and they work! No child should get left behind and the Bumper Book of Double Learning will enable every child to reach their full potential.”

I’ve just bought this from Amazon! It’s wonderful, and will really assist me in giving my grandchildren some real help with their learning! Thank you so much to this author who has, I would say, turned learning (and teaching) from drudgery into a truly fun and pleasurable experience.
