A local charity is calling on Berkhamsted residents to consider giving up their time to keep its charity online retail operation running.
Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, whose online retail hub is run from Northbridge Road industrial estate in Berkhamsted, urgently needs more volunteers to pack and dispatch items that are sold via its online stores.
The charity sells hundreds of items on sites such as eBay and Vinted weekly, with 200 parcels wrapped on average per day and £6,000 raised on average per week.
Ecommerce manager Sarah Gaywood said: “Without more volunteers to support our online shop, we risk a fall in retail income that could affect the services we’re able to deliver for patients.”
Karen, a packer for more than two years, said: “I tend to look after the jewellery and take pride in doing a good job – it’s so important to make sure items get to their new home safely, especially when you’re sending items of high value.”
Fellow packer Hilary said: “It’s a lovely place to volunteer and really sociable – I have made friends here and it gets me out and keeps me busy.”
