A 12-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after a road traffic collision with a car that happened in Garston.

Police are trying to find witnesses following the crash on the A405 North Orbital Road at 2.55pm yesterday (October 1).

It is believed the boy crossed the northbound carriageway opposite McDonalds colliding with a blue Honda Civic.

He received a head injury and was airlifted to hospital where his condition is described as critical but stable.

PC James Horn from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit said: “A young boy received serious head injuries and is in hospital in a critical condition.  We are supporting his parents whilst we investigate the circumstances of what happened yesterday afternoon.

“If you have any dash cam footage, please do get in touch.  We are also keen to trace the driver of a dark coloured Range Rover style 4×4 or SUV and a small white van which was behind a blue Nissan as they may have witnessed the collision.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Horn at james.horn@herts.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 462 of yesterday’s date.
